Talks, Panel Discussions & Best Practice Session Content

  • Session 1 (Talk) - Do we have more children with SEND or are we seeing wider child development gaps?

Without emotional safety we have nothing, and more and more children are starting their school journey without it. Graham will use the Social Discipline Window to explore how children's experiences have changed over the last 2 decades, looking at the changing experiences of parents, the why and where child develop gaps have emerged, and how to best support them in the future.

  • Session 2 (Talk)- A support first approach to attendance and parental relationships

This talk is focused on helping schools to build relationships with families for children to thrive and feel supported both at home and at school. Looking at engaging families through messaging and strategies that help schools to become easy to reach, meaning the narrative is flipped from parents being hard to reach.

  • Session 3 (Talk) - LGBTQ+ Inclusion and it's impact on wellbeing in schools

LGBTQ+ inclusion in schools has become a hot issue over the last few years, with legislation being debated and new guidelines proposed that make it harder for educators to know exactly what they can and can't do when it comes to supporting LGBTQ+ students in their schools. In this session, we will be exploring what the current picture actually is in UK schools, through genuine case studies and statistics and how every school staff member can confidently play a part in building genuinely inclusive school cultures that ensure every student feels safe, seen and supported, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

  • Session 4 (Talk) - A Whole School Approach to Mental Health and Wellbeing

The document promoting Children and Young People's Mental health has pointed out the 8 areas we should be implementing into schools but how do we know we've got it right?

  • Session 5 (Panel Discussion) - Questions to the Panel

Please submit any questions or challenges that you would like to be considered for discussion

  • Session 6 (Talk) - Laughter is THE Medicine

Experience first hand the efficacy of laughter when it's used as a wellbeing tool for improving mental and physical health. Learn how and why to use laughter yoga to release stress, soothe your nervous system and navigate life’s curveballs.Take away some quick and effective ways to support mental and physical health.

  • Session 7 (Talk) - Money confidence in schools - Empowering young minds for financial well-being

Exploring the powerful connection between money confidence and mental health, equipping school leads with the knowledge and tools to develop financial resilience in young people. By addressing financial anxiety, embedding practical money education and normalising conversations about money, schools can play a pivotal role in shaping students’ financial futures and overall well-being as well as it helping themselves.

  • Session 8 (Best Practice) - Pupil Voice and Co-Production

How best to gain pupil voice information, how to use it , how you can make changes and how you can co-produce parts of the curriculum

  • Session 9 (Talk) - Poly-Vagal Theory and strategies to help the mental health of pupils and staff

  • Spotting the signs so you can identify which part of the theory applies to who and what best practice strategies you can use to help shift the state of pupils and staff. Effective strategies can be built into every day practice

  • Session 10 (Best Practice) - Supervision and Solution Circles

Research shows that external supervision is a key preventative strategy for those working in 'higher risk' roles.
